The Development Consultants

is a consultancy company specialized in designing and facilitating development processes for both large and smaller companies – and the people in them. Our core competency is to combine:

We do not keep our distance, we are comfortable with handling difficult situations, and we engage ourselves in you as a business, as an organization and as people.

The Development Consultants has been in the business for 20 years, and we have been involved in numerous small and large scale, national and international, projects from our base in Aarhus, central Denmark. Our consultants have on average 15 years of experience. All the nine owners of The Development Consultants work as Senior Consultants in the company. This means that we have many exceptional specialists with long standing experience in tackling complex tasks together. We are strongly involved in both the Danish Master in Public Management and the Master in Leadership and Organizational Psychology. Currently, we are  involved in several scientific research projects on the development of management teams, large-scale involvement, power in organizations, and emotions in leadership. All consultants have recognized university degrees and the employee group counts among them four management consultants with PhD degrees within organizational psychology. Every year, we spend at least one month together to develop our own expertise and organization.

We try to be down-to-earth and take a pragmatic approach to working with different theories and methods, all depending on what is needed in the specific situation. When we design processes we get our inspiration from a broad range of approaches such as: change management, future search, systems thinking, strategy safari, theory U, psychodynamics, innovation, facilitation, appreciative inquiry, lean, organization theory, etc.

Our methods have been developed to take the following aspects into account: understanding of the people involved, the actual tasks at hand, the organizational culture and the importance of the organizational structure, the irrational forces in the organization and the present reality in the business context. Our approach opposes the often dominant pitfall, where development is limited to suggesting a new structure, strategy and bottom line. Our approach also opposes the equally widespread psychological pitfall, where development is reduced to dealing with relations, communication and personal development.
